Intro
Historic building support scaffold. Built in stages from 1868-72, this distinctive two storey classical revival building and clock tower which housed the eight “Alfred Bells”, was in need of external restoration. Builders A.W Nicholson Pty Ltd required scaffold around the Town Hall without demolishing walls, in order to run heavy duty beams through to support the Scaffold. A procedure most standard Scaffold companies would do.
Solution
The Swiftscaff solution was to support our Scaffold over the building without interfering with the structure. We did this by counter levering heavy duty Layher 750 beams 14m over the roof supporting 20 tonnes of Scaffold. As a result, the Town Hall and its Shire Offices below were able to operate as normal including the ringing of the Town Hall’s historic Alfred Bells.
System
We provide intelligent solutions for anything from iconic buildings, refineries, tanks and tunnels to shipping, aircraft hangers and much more. Many scaffolds can be prebuilt and craned into position due to the rigidity of Layher’s unique connection technology. Our accessories provide further for areas such as temporary protective roofing and cladding systems.
